At CarePoint, our goal is to bring our community together - those who need a little help, with those who have enough to share.  Our community is stronger when we work together and help each other.  Help can take many forms. You may have a Saturday or Sunday to spare, but lack a safe place to share your food and time with those in need. You may have a facility that isn't being used on a particular day, but lack volunteers to provide needed food. The goal of CarePoints is to coordinate the tools to bring people together - those who need the food, those who have food to share, and those who have a place to offer to provide the food to those in need.

What’s a CarePoint?

Triangle Area Missions Ministries invited meal and outreach providers serving in Moore Square Park on the weekends, to come together to consider a community wide effort to begin setting up scattered points of care in and around the city. The purpose of these sites or points of care would be to provide for the material and spiritual needs of people who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. CarePoint was then born.

Serving more people, but in smaller numbers; to build deeper relationships that may lead to a transformed life and if possible the desire to leave the streets and camps. For many, especially the medically and mentally fragile, the plan included helping them become housed and maybe even save their lives.

Though T.A.M.M. birthed CarePoint, it is open to anyone or any organization and allows people of all or no particular faith to find a place to connect their desire to give with people needing help with serving the great needs of our  community.

Here are a few guidelines to consider BEFORE taking food to authorized CarePoint Sites:
  •     Individually wrap or bag meals & resources
  •     Use smallest package appropriate to reduce trash
  •     Consider lack of storage & refrigeration options
  •     Stay with the food you bring, don't leave trays or bags for later   pick-up
  •     Clean-up trash, recycling, and leave the area cleaner than when you arrived!
